01What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a site leaves in your browser so it can recognise it later. The site also uses local storage, which works the same way for this purpose: keeping your session, your preferences and your cookie choice.
02Strictly necessary
They keep you signed in and remember basic preferences (language, theme, the layout of a table). Without them the site cannot work, so they cannot be switched off.
03Analytics
Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, only if you accept them. They tell us which pages are used and where it breaks, in aggregate: they are not used to identify you personally.
04Advertising
Google AdSense, only if you accept them. They allow the ads that pay for the servers to be relevant, and they are also used by Google to measure and personalise advertising on other sites. Without this consent the site keeps working the same and ads are not personalised.
05How to change it
The “Cookies” link in the footer reopens the banner, where you can accept, reject or choose by category. You can also delete cookies and local storage from your browser settings, and opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings.
